Recovering from a period of physical and mental exhaustion, the Brazilian fighter is preparing to move up a weight class and headline UFC São Paulo in November. 39-year-old Espírito Santo fighter Ronaldo Jacaré is beginning a revival in his UFC career. Defeated in April by Norwegian Jack Hermansson, he went through a period of intense emotional turmoil until he was diagnosed with burnout syndrome, a disorder linked to professional frustration, whose symptoms include stress and physical exhaustion. "It wasn't depression. I was very stressed, I would sleep past 4 a.m., I had no desire to go to the gym, I would cry in the car. I already felt retired," Jacaré said in an interview with Estúdio VEJA. Advised by his wife, with whom he lives in the United States, the athlete sought professional help and managed to overcome the adversity. Now, he's preparing for the main event of UFC São Paulo, scheduled for November 16th at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, against Poland's Jan Blachowicz. The bout will mark Jacaré's debut, having achieved excellent results at middleweight (up to 84 kg) and light heavyweight (up to 93 kg). The Brazilian has a 26-7 record in MMA.
