Why we need something bigger than Everest | Alex Staniforth | TEDxRNCM
Aged 22, Alex Staniforth is an endurance adventurer, athlete, author and charity fundraiser from Cheshire. He is no stranger to adversity – suffering epilepsy, stammering, bullying in early life. He has challenged these life challenges through outdoor challenges; and now helps others to overcome theirs. He survived the 2015 Nepal earthquake during his second attempt to climb Mount Everest and in July 2017 he became the fastest person ever to climb all 100 UK county tops, advocating his struggle with mental illness. He won the Pride of Britain Granada Reports Fundraiser of the Year 2017, raising over £85,000 for charities so far. Recorded @ TEDxRNCM, June 2018. Hosted by @hayley_parkes In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
