Kurz češtiny 68.2: Kde, nebo kam? Různé předložky (a pády)
In this video, we will first look at the prepositions PŘED (in front of), ZA (behind), POD (under), NAD (above) and MEZI (between), after which the instrumental is used (the 7th case: kým? čím?) when we answer the question WHERE something is, but the accusative (the 4th case: koho? co?) when answering the question WHERE TO we will put something. Another preposition is NA, after which there is the locative (the 6th case: kom? čem?) shen we say WHERE there is something, but also the accusative when we say WHERE TO we put something. If you, for example, want to describe what your apartment or room looks like, WHERE something is OR WHERE TO you will place something, you need some more prepositions. For example, you can use VEDLE (next to) + the genitive (the 2nd case: koho? čeho?), VLEVO OD (left of), or VPRAVO OD (right of) + the genitive. If you're saying WHERE something is, you can also use U (by, at) + the genitive, UPROSTŘED (in the centre) + the genitive or V (in) + the locative. But you will not use those when you're saying WHERE TO you will put something. Instead, you use the K (to) + the dative (the 3rd case: komu? čemu?), DOPROSTŘED (to the centre) + the genitive, and DO (to, inside) + the genitive.
