Organic Chemistry II CHEM-2425 Ch 12 Oxidations and Reductions Part 1

Chapter 12 Video Part 1 Section 12.1 Introduction Section 12.2 Reducing Agents: An introduction to the three different types of reducing agents we will be using in this chapter. Section 12.3 Reduction of Alkenes: The reagents and mechanism of reducing alkenes to alkanes. Section 12.4 Hydrogenation of Oils: A brief discussion of the hydrogenation of vegetable oils. Section 12.5 Reduction of Alkynes: The three different ways you can reduce an alkyne: to an alkane, to a cis alkene, or to a trans alkene. Section 12.6 Reduction of C-X sigma bonds: Reduction of C-X bonds using LiAlH4. These are the lectures that I use in my Organic Chemistry II course. The textbook I use is Smith, Janice "Organic Chemistry", McGraw Hill, 6th Ed., 2020, ISBN13: 9781260119107. Some images used in this video come from that textbook.
