D&RGE HOn3 Model Railroad - Concept Design About a year ago I illustrated this model railroad design using Trainz Simulator 2019. Although I never finished all the detailing and cleanup I would have liked, I have created a video of the design for your review. Please note that the design originates from a plan view drawing by Bob Sprague (Bob's Track Planning) that I saw on-line. He designed the original for Steve Folinio, who is actually constructing the plan in his basement. I have taken Bob's original design and tweaked it here and there and made it my own. The design is intended to be a pure walk around layout with a footprint being approximately 26'x33' in area. There are three towns, engine service facilities, a sorting yard, many industries, multiple mining operations, cattle/sheep pens, canyons, bridges, and lots of "just scenery" in between the towns to provide real distance. A complete circuit of the layout takes about 25-minutes at about 40-scale miles per hour. This would keep a crew very busy in an operating session.
