Bullet Train Project advances underground with New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM)

India’s first bullet train project features a 21-kilometer tunnel, marking a historic step in modern infrastructure. Five kilometers of this tunnel have been fully excavated using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM). With excavation complete, construction has advanced to the next stages: Drainage System: Built with casting gantries to safely channel seepage water. Waterproofing Membranes: Installed to protect against water ingress. Reinforcement Bar Cages: Steel frameworks strengthening the tunnel. Final Concrete Lining: Cast by lining gantries for permanent strength and smooth finish.
