Cherry Blossoms in Korea & Hanbok Date 한복 봄나들이 창덕궁 (자막 CC)

We were eagerly waiting for cherry blossom season to arrive so we could film this video! Cherry blossom season is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Korea, and we always try and take advantage of the week or so when they are in full bloom to check out a few different places in Seoul. We used to go to Yeouido, a popular place to see the cherry blossoms, as they have a cherry blossom festival there every spring. However it’s far too crowded for us and we couldn't fully enjoy the experience, so we decided to go to some quieter places this time around. First we visited Yangjae Citizens’ Forest. It was so quiet and serene there, and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom the day we went. It was our first time in the area, and we’ll definitely be making it a yearly tradition. Later in the week, we did something we’ve been talking about doing for months. We took the subway to Jongno 3-ga station, rented hanboks, and went to Chandeokgung palace to get a last glimpse of the cherry blossoms. Over the last year or so, we’ve noticed more and more people renting hanboks and wearing them around the palaces, and the more traditional looking areas of Seoul, like Insadong. There are countless hanbok rental shops in the area—we saw 7 or 8 of them on one street alone. We had a lot of fun walking around wearing hanbok and enjoying the blossoms, and so many other people were wearing them too. Plus, if you’re wearing a hanbok, you get into the palace for free!
