Expulsado de Lisboa: Cuando un empleo a tiempo completo no basta
Lisbon is considered a dream city, but for many who live and work here, housing has become an existential problem. Since 2020, rents in the Lisbon metropolitan area have risen by around 42%, while incomes have barely kept pace. More and more people are being forced to leave their neighborhoods. Tourism, international investors, and the arrival of digital nomads are exacerbating the situation. In working-class neighborhoods, apartments are increasingly being used as vacation rentals. The proportion of income that Lisbon residents must allocate to rent is one of the highest in Europe. But resistance is growing: tens of thousands of people are demonstrating for their right to housing. Experts warn that the housing crisis has not only social but also democratic consequences. 00:00 Lisbon: A Dream City with Its Dark Side 01:15 Expelled from the City: Living Without Affordable Housing 02:52 Why Rents Are Soaring: Tourism and Investors 03:41 Protests in the Streets: Resistance Against the Housing Crisis 04:55 Luxury Is Booming: Who Benefits from the Real Estate Market? 06:24 Social Housing Is Hardly Available: Political Mistakes with a History 08:00 The Right to Housing: Voices of Those Affected 08:57 Living in the Slums: Working Is No Longer Enough 11:34 Hope for Change: Who Does the City Belong to? #dwmagacines #dwcurrentaffairs
