Adamorobe: Ghanaian Community Ravaged By Hearing Impairment

Adamorobe is a community in Ghana known for its unusually high incidence of hereditary deafness. About 50 years ago, the community’s chief issued a decree which banned deaf people from marrying one another in the hope of reducing the incidents of deafness in the locality. Dorcas Wangira has been to the town to meet a deaf couple who defied the decree, all for Love. Gist Nigeria is a 30-minute current affairs programme, co-produced by Channels Television and the BBC.
