Ghosts of Buffalo, NY: Village of Blasdell

the village of blasdell, ny was founded in 1896 and it grew around the erie and south buffalo railroads. known locally as the "gateway to the southtowns", this small village of ca. 2,700 residents has revolved around the railroads ever since its founding. however, as railroad transport declined and neighboring industries such as bethlehem steel left the area, the huge decrease in the significance of the railroads through blasdell have left this small village without much of an identity anymore. we now explore this village and its railroad connections, even if such connections no longer exist... music: shostakovich 10th symphony, mvmt.
