How to Grease a Trailer Jack | SUPER EASY

Keeping your trailer jack well-lubricated is key to smooth operation and long-lasting performance! In this video, we show you step-by-step how to grease your trailer jack to prevent rust, wear, and jamming. From gathering the right supplies to applying grease in the critical areas, you’ll learn the proper techniques to keep your trailer jack in top condition. The first step to greasing your trailer jack is to remove if from the trailer if possible. This will allow you to handle and disassemble the jack much easier then if it's left on the trailer. To remove the jack simply place two jack stands under the tongue of the trailer and lower the trailer using the jack onto the stands. One the trailer is supported by something other than the main jack itself simply unbolt the jack from the trailer. You may need to drop the foot plate off the bottom of the jack to entirely remove the assembly from the trailer. To disassemble a trailer jack begin by removing the nut and bolt that holds the crank to the jack. Once the crank is removed the outer sleave of the jack can be slid off on the crank housing. With the crank housing of the trailer jack exposed remove the bearing and washer from the shaft. Once removed unthread the shaft from the casing. With all the threads of the shaft exposed begin by cleaning up the threads using a wire brush. Once the threads of the jack shaft are clean and the old grease has been removed as best as possible, begin applying new grease to the threads. It's best to use high temp wheel bearing grease that can be found in trailer hubs as well. Work the grease into the threads from top to bottom fully coating the threads in a fresh layer. Once a new layer of grease has been applied to the jack reassemble the jack the same way it was disassembled and mount it back up to the trailer.
