Russian Imperial Stout Brewday
This video is of 10 Gallons of Russian Imperial Stout home brew being made. It was a challenging brew day because the mash kept getting stuck making recirculation and therefore temperature adjustments and sparging difficult. Boiling off nearly 4 gallons of wort also added to the length of the brew day. In addition to the RIS a party gyle stout is also being made with the second runnings. About 3 quarts of the RIS remained in the kettle helping to boost the gravity of it a bit. The brew system is an E-HERMS (Electric Heat Exchange Recirculating Mash System) controlled by a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller).
