Chrono Trigger - Corridors of Time (cover w/lyrics)

It's finally finished! I might venture to say that this is the best cover I've ever done. I lost count of the hours I put into it, but I'd guess it was 35+. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. This arrangement was really difficult for me to sing. I actually slowed the whole track down by 10bpm from the original because I was struggling with the eighth note runs. Also, there are some really long phrases at the end of each verse and I had a hard time NOT running out of breath as you can probably tell, haha. I ended up re-recording the vocals twice. They never live up to my personal standards, but I do feel like my singing is slowly getting better with each video. On that note, I have arrived at the conclusion that I realllly need to upgrade my recording setup. The most important thing I need are some decent studio monitors. I've been mixing everything through my headphones and my crappy $10 logitech speakers. It really screws up my audio perspective switching back and forth so I need to just take the plunge and pickup some monitors. The composer's genius really shines through in this piece. I've always enjoyed it, but I never realized how truly beautiful it is until I picked it apart and analyzed it. The fact that Mitsuda could create something so strikingly elegant on such limited hardware absolutely blows my mind. The vocal harmonies are gorgeous and hopefully I did them some measure of justice. The lyrics are pretty straight forward. There aren't really any hidden messages or anything this time around. I always say this, but I think they still need a bit of tweaking before I'm completely satisfied with them. I feel like the gameplay shots I used complimented what I was singing about pretty well. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get a fourth Chrono Trigger cover in this month. I've got a couple of ideas buzzing around, but if the lyrics don't come to me then there's not much I can do. The main one that I have in mind is actually my favorite piece from CT so it might require more time than a week and a half to get done. I guess we'll see... I'm going to take a couple of weeks of early next month so I can have some time to get a few things in order. First, I'm going to go back and remaster all of my covers and put them up for sale on loudr.fm (don't worry, they'll be cheap). People keep asking me to make them available for purchase. I'm also going to put captions in all of my covers with lyrics that will actually contain the lyrics. If I'm feeling brave I might sit down and make an update video when I get all of those tracks remixed. I dunno, though. Talking to a camera is weird. It has no soul.
