Demo - Gary Chester's "New Breed"
Demonstration of practice method out of Gary Chester's drum instructional book "The New Breed". This shows a brief sampling of a few different exercises ranging from somewhat easy to advanced. This is for my students' reference. Example 1: Page 9, System 2, 60 bpm. Reading on bass drum: page 14 (I-A), first two bars, each repeated indefinitely. Vocalizing quarter-note pulse. Example 2: Page 9, System 4, 70 bpm. Reading on bass drum: page 16 (II-A), first two bars, each repeated indefinitely. Vocalizing quarter-note pulse. Example 3: Page 12, System 28 hybrid: feet reversed (BD plays hi hat part and hi hat reads melody), 80 bpm. Reading on hi hat: page 18 (III-A), first two bars, each repeated indefinitely. Vocalizing quarter-note pulse.
