For each cause, we show how to identify the specific cause—treatments vary. Next, apply a combination of baking soda and iodine to the leaves in the evening: 30 to 40 grams of baking soda and three to five drops of iodine per ten liters of warm, settled water, every seven to ten days. Baking soda shifts the leaf pH toward alkalinity, killing downy mildew spores, while iodine acts as an antiseptic and trace element. We'll discuss root feeding: twenty grams of urea and fifteen grams of potassium magnesium sulfate per ten liters, trimming the lower old leaves for ventilation, and mulching with five to seven centimeters of straw.
