2004 Range Rover HSE M62TU 4.4L V8 Tightening Oil Pump Chain Tension Without Removing Upper Oil Pan

On the BMW M62TU engine, used in the 2004 Range Rover HSE model, the revised style of the upper oil pan inhibits access to the oil pump chain tensioner/adjuster unit. On some BMW shop manuals, the book procedure calls for dropping the upper oil pan, however, using the method described in this video you can adjust the oil pump tension from the front of the engine (by removing the lower timing case cover), without having to drop the lower or upper oil pan. This is really helpful when doing a timing chain, guide, and tensioner job as you already have the lower timing case cover off. If you have an M62TU and have the lower timing case cover removed, I highly recommend you check and just the oil pump chain. I hope the information here helps someone.
