Clinical Implications of Moving Beyond Categorical Diagnosis - Dr. Jared Ruchensky, PhD
Dr. Ruchensky obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University and completed his predoctoral internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ruchensky's body of work addresses models and measures of psychopathic personality disorder (psychopathy), the utility of broadband personality assessment instruments, and dimensional models of personality pathology. He is especially interested in studying these topics in criminal-legal and underserved (e.g., LGBTQ+) populations. His work has been recognized with the John E. Exner Award from the Society for Personality Assessment, and he currently serves as an Associate Editor at Assessment. He is also an active clinician who routinely completes forensic evaluations and trains doctoral students in therapy and assessment. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Explain the rationale for transitioning from categorical to dimensional models 2. Define key components of the Alternative Model for Personality Disorders 3.
