John Candy Becomes a Communist

It's silly and farcical in tone, not a great movie but covers unusual, somewhat interesting subject matter and has some funny bits -- while unfortunately also dealing quite casually in misogyny and racially insensitive Asian stereotypes. Here, Candy plays Tom Tuttle from Tacoma, a Peace Corps volunteer tasked with building a bridge in a Thai village. Tuttle and his fellow volunteers, played by Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks, eventually learn that their Peace Corps liaison, played by Tim Thomerson, is also working for the CIA and is in cahoots with a local black marketeer.
