Can you put 35s with stock gears? Let's mount some Milestar Patagonias and find out.
Can you run 35s without changing the gears on a Wrangler? Milestar Patagonia 35" Mud tires on 17 inch rims. https://amzn.to/3mVe4dy Here’s the big question I have been running 33’s with the stock gears on my 2007 wrangler and never had any loss of power. It’s have a six speed manual transmission and it does well with 33’s. Now I’m going to take a chance and put some 35s on and see how it does. I am back from the Tire place and did not notice a loss of power. The light turns green, and trough the gears I go. So far so good. The bigger test is came Saturday, a full day of trails down in Bartow. While there we asked a few fellow Jeepers how they liked their 35s and if they had stock gears. AROUND TOWN: No problem. It still has some pep and acceleration is acceptable. Under 45 mph and you may not even notice. HIGHWAY DRIVING: It gets up to seed ok, but suffers after 65. You have to downshift to go up any incline. It runs around 2500rpms in 5th on a flat surface. 6th gear will cause a gradual loss of speed. OFFROAD DRIVING: We took the time to wheel out at the home of Jeepin’ with Judd to put them through the final test. It went up hill good and could sling the mud out of the tread. I did a couple of recoveries and had no issues pulling someone else out. I do have a 3.5 inch lift but still had rubbing with the stock fender flares. This was while navigating a wash out area that offered some flex testing moments. So the answer is… YOU CAN BUT.... be prepaired for issues. Unless your Jeep was made with 35s in mind its going to have some issues, lack of hwy speed, bogging down, no slow crawl, and sensoe issues. Im no pro but after spending over a year fixing issues I have put the 33s back on till the regear happens. The cost for me to regear and put lockers on is around 5 grand right now. If you have a Jeep that came with gears made for 35s you should be good. If it was made with 31s in mind you may have troubles. Then again you might be fine... Need some parts covered in our videos?
