A cyclist's guide to British road signs: (Almost) Every UK cyclning sign you need to know!

Welcome to the cyclist’s guide to British road signs Do you know what all the bicycle road signs in the UK actually mean? In this video, I explain the main bicycle signs, traffic signals, and road markings used on British roads. These include cycle lane signs, shared pedestrian and cycle route signs, no cycling signs, No Entry except cycles, contraflow cycle lanes, bus and cycle lanes, cycle diversion signs, bike boxes, Toucan crossings, parallel crossings, and bicycle traffic lights. Cyclists are road users too, and understanding the Highway Code is important for safer cycling, better road awareness, and fewer misunderstandings between cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians. In this guide, we look at: 🚲 Cycle route warning signs 🚲 No cycling signs 🚲 No Entry except cycles 🚲 No through road except cycles 🚲 Route for pedal cycles only 🚲 Shared pedestrian and cycle routes 🚲 Segregated pedestrian and cycle routes 🚲 Mandatory and advisory cycle lanes 🚲 Contraflow cycling signs 🚲 Bus lanes used by cyclists 🚲 Cycle diversion signs at roadworks 🚲 Yellow warning signs near cycle lanes 🚲 Bicycle road markings 🚲 Advanced stop lines / bike boxes 🚲 Bicycle traffic lights 🚲 Toucan crossings and parallel crossings Some signs are aimed mainly at drivers, some apply directly to cyclists, and some help pedestrians understand where cyclists may be approaching from. A red circle, blue circle, red triangle or rectangular sign can all mean very different things, so it is important to read the whole sign, including any smaller plate underneath. If you cycle, drive, walk, commute, or simply want to understand UK road signs better, this video will help you recognise the most common cycling signs and understand how to respond to them safely.
