In 1931, Jorge Isaac Carvallo Rostrán was born in Chichigalpa, Chinandega, he was a Nicaraguan singer-songwriter and composer and author of songs such as: Matagalpa and La Juliana. He studied at the Instituto Nacional de Oriente, at that time his passion for music was born thanks to his mother Candida Rosa Rostran, who was a teacher and a guitar lover. Carvallo grew up in the city of León, at the age of 12 he began to write his first songs, over time he formed a duo with his brother José Antonio, called Los Hermanos Carvallo, influenced by the music of Justo Santos and his trio Los Pinoleros. In 1950 he recorded the songs "La Juliana" and "Luna callejera" in Juan María Navas Barraza's Recording National studio. In 1951 he composed the song "Matagalpa", in celebration of the centenary of the Perla del Septentrión. In 1956 he composed the boleros: Eres, Let's love each other again, heart and La Esquinita. In 1959 he traveled to Guatemala to study Advertising and Sales, there he formed the trio "Los Raros" together with Guillermo Dubón and Nel Andrew, the following year he returned to his native country and wrote the song "Peasant learns to read", during the day of literacy in Cuba, shortly after he formed the trio Los Nícaros together with Otto de la Rocha and Donald Argüello. In 1964 he won first place in the National Typical Music Festival with the song El Cañalito, organized by the Instituto de Fomento Nacional and in 1965 he participated in the Third Central American Song Festival in El Salvador, where he won second place. . In 1968 he was part of the Chontal Trio along with Otto de la Rocha and Irwin Krüger, beginning to sing on Radio Mundial. In 1972 he again won first place in the National Typical Music Festival, organized by FENIBA. In 1985 he founded, together with his son Jack Carvallo, the First Central American Academy of Music and in 1989 he inaugurated one in Guatemala. In 1993 he inaugurated the branch of the Academy in Reparto Bolonia (Managua), in 1995 he won first place for the third time in the National Typical Music Festival, organized by the Nicaraguan Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC). Among his successes are: Mama, mamacita, El sol, Alexis Argüello, Payday and Lesbia Guerrero. It is estimated that Carvallo produced some 600 pieces, 200 unpublished, he was an extraordinary character who fought for the Son Nica rhythm to be accepted. In 2003 he was awarded the National Prize for Humanities, in 2010 he received the Creativity Prize from the World Intellectual Property Organization and in October 2011, a grace pension was approved by the National Assembly. Carvallo died at the age of 84 on August 20, 2015, leaving a great legacy to national music, he was buried in the Jardines del Recuerdo Cemetery. Jorge Isaac loved the regional song, typical of Nicaragua. He spanned many genres of music, but Son Nica was the main one he spawned.
