For Aspiring Aircraft Mechanics

A candid, honest, no-BS take that is off the cuff on the state of being an aircraft mechanic in the current year of 2026. As well as some advice and wisdom nuggets for (potential) future students on what they can expect in the world of aircraft maintenance. Always have a backup plan and another set of skills to rely on, not just being a one trick pony. TLDR: In summary, if you want to make a decent living being an A&P, shoot for the big companies. If money is not an issue and you are passionate about working on aircraft, still consider on getting an A&P license. But be warned that simply having an A&P license doesn't necessarily mean you are guaranteed to a land decent job that will provide right away.
