Many barbers are under the impression they do not need to wear respirator masks in the barbershop as they are not medics and they do not need that level of protection. I beg to differ because after doing hours and hours of reading it's clear to me the barbershop is even more hazardous than a medical facility. Owing to a number of factors: The turnover of clients, the lack of correct understanding of hygiene, barbershops generally operate in small confined spaces, coupled with the fact barber's work in close proximity to their clients. Also, barbershops are very social, as such clients and barbers tend to shout a lot, causing lots of visible and invisible spit to fly and drop on various surfaces which become transmission stations for harmful viruses like COVID19. This spit can also change its form into extremely fine particles, like a gas that suspend in the air, if it's caught right, by the air stream of a hairdryer or cooling fan in your shop. So with that in mind, I created this 3 part barber PPE training tutorial on respiration masks and this is what you'll learn: Part One: I will describe how the respirator protects you from harmful viruses you'll learn the two different ways you could contact COVID19 and I will demonstrate how the virus is spread in the barbershop using everyday items in the barbershop to illustrate and simplify the transmission.
