The film is divided into two parts: one focusing on two high school students, Nozomi Kasaki (played by Toyama) and Mizore Yoroizuka (played by Tanezaki), and another expressing the world of the picture book that appears in the film. Honda plays the young girl Liz and the Blue Bird in the picture book part. "Liz and the Blue Bird" is an animated feature film directed by Yamada, who also directed the animated feature film "A Silent Voice." The story is based on Ayano Takeda's novel "Sound! Euphonium: Kitauji High School Concert Band, the turbulent second movement" (Takarajimasha). Mizore Yoroizuka, who plays the oboe, and Nozomi Kasaki, who plays the flute, are in the Kitauji High School Concert Band's final high school competition. The song chosen for the competition is "Liz and the Blue Bird." The song includes solos for the oboe and flute, but the two solos don't mesh well... This is the story. The series will be produced by Kyoto Animation, the same studio that produced the anime "Sound! Euphonium" and "A Silent Voice."
