Swaminathan (1946-2009) was a popular orator, an author of various Tamil books, Deputy Director of All India Radio, Chennai. He hosted the daily programme known as ‘Indru Oru Thagaval’ on All India Radio. He is a down-to-earth genius who could give a depth speech in a simple and interesting story form. Millions of people across Tamil Nadu were mesmerised by his voice every morning for several years. The five-minute programme, presented in simple colloquial Tamil, the common man could relate to and punctuated by anecdotes meant to make you smile and ponder, which was broadcasted without a break from 1988 until his retirement in 2002. Thenkachi Ko Swaminathan is even now remembered for his popular daily programme ‘Indru Oru Thagaval’ by millions of people across the world.
