The demons, resembling terrifying buffalo, spewed fire from their eyes, nostrils, and mouths, while their teeth, like steel daggers, bit and tore at the souls. At the bottom of the abyss, I saw a colossal throne composed of the most hideous and horrifying of demons, and in the center, a chair made up of the princes of darkness. There stood Satan in his indescribable ugliness. I said to my angels: How long will this last?" The torments? They answered me: "Forever, for all eternity!" And souls were falling into hell like rain! A visit to Purgatory: "The torments of Purgatory are so immense that no human mind can comprehend them. The fire there is so intensely burning that it could destroy the universe in the blink of an eye. Souls are swept into it as if they have been transformed into fire. One torment follows another; scarcely does one end before another, even more horrific, begins. What are the torments of martyrs compared to the torment of Purgatory? Nothing compares to the torment of Purgatory. If a soul were to return to Earth, it would defy every form of martyrdom to avoid returning to Purgatory.
