On November 16, 1907, an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 people gathered in Guthrie on the steps of the Carnegie Library to witness the wedding of the century between Mr. Oklahoma Territory and Miss Indian Territory. Although symbolic, the nuptials acted out by Anna Trainor Bennet of Muskogee and Charles G. "Gristmill" Jones of Oklahoma City represented a real union, as the twin territories joined to become America's 46th state.
