BEING HUMAN Episode 2 with Matt Cherry | Humanist Canada Television Series (2010–2015)

In this episode of Being Human, host Barbara Caines welcomes Matt Cherry, former International Representative of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (now Humanists International), for a conversation about the global humanist movement. Together, they explore the growth of humanism around the world, the challenges faced by humanists in different cultural and political contexts, and the role international cooperation plays in advancing human rights, freedom of thought, and secular values. Matt also reflects on the impact humanist ideas can have on society and what the future may hold for the movement worldwide. Originally produced for VisionTV in the early 2010s, Being Human brought a humanist perspective to Canadian television through thoughtful conversations with leading voices from across Canada and around the world. As with any program from a previous era, some discussions, language, or perspectives may reflect the time in which they were recorded and may not align with current understandings or the views of our organization today. We are pleased to share this archival series as a reflection of our history and the ongoing evolution of humanist thought.
