In this hadeeth, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade a man to touch a man, nor a woman a woman, and this is followed by the prohibition of a man looking at a man’s private parts, or a woman looking at a woman’s private parts, and that a man should come to a man in one garment, meaning that there should be nothing between them that touches flesh, and they should lie down to sleep; because it leads to evil, corruption and temptation, and that a woman should come to a woman in one garment, meaning: one of them should not be alone with the other in one garment, naked; Because that may lead to one of them touching the other's private parts, and touching them is forbidden like looking at them, rather it is more forbidden, and it may lead to greater corruption, unlike if there is a barrier between them, and they are not stripped of their clothes and we are safe from temptation. This, and the place of the prohibition is to directly touch the private parts and not look at them if there is no need, but if there is a legitimate need, then looking is permissible; such as medicine and the like, provided that the looking is to the extent of the need, and without lust as well. In a narration - the place of the private parts -: the nakedness of the man and the nakedness of the woman, and they have the same meaning.
