He Is Risen: The Empty Tomb and the Resurrection of Jesus | Luke 24

He is risen! In this Easter sermon from Luke 24:1-6, we look at the empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus, the greatest event in human history. Luke shows us that Jesus Christ did not remain in the grave. He rose again, proving that sin has been paid for, death has been conquered, and eternal life is available to all who repent and believe. In this expositional sermon through Luke’s Gospel, we consider three powerful truths: 1. The darkness of Christ’s death gives way to the light of the resurrection. 2. After the resurrection, Jesus is revealed as the Lord. 3. Do not seek life among the dead. The angels’ words still confront us today: “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” Many people seek life in dead religion, dead works, dead idols, dead faith, or the things of this world. But life is found only in the risen Christ. If Christ has not been raised, our faith is futile. But because Jesus rose from the dead, everything changes. Scripture in this sermon includes: Luke 24:1-6 Luke 23:44-56 Mark 16:2-3 Matthew 20:28 Acts 7:56 Acts 16:31 Romans 10:9 1 Corinthians 15:17 Ephesians 2:8-9 James 2:17 John 6:68 John 10:10 This sermon is part of my verse-by-verse preaching through Luke’s Gospel. 00:00 How He Is Risen — The Empty Tomb and the Resurrection of Jesus 09:08 Lesson One: The darkness of Christ’s death gives way to the light of the resurrection. 20:36 Lesson Two: After the resurrection, Jesus is revealed as the Lord. 25:13 Lesson Three: Do not seek life among the dead.
