During the Peace Walk with Aloka, I witnessed a truly unforgettable and humbling moment with Venerable Piyadhammo Thero and the Vietnamese monk Venerable Pannakara Thero. While many rested in tents after the long journey, Venerable Piyadhammo Thero remained outside throughout the entire night in meditation, seated only on a small piece of cloth until dawn. His life of simplicity and renunciation deeply moved my heart. Owning only two worn and torn robes, yet living with such peace, discipline, and spiritual strength, reminded me of the true meaning of Buddhist practice. Meeting such a noble monk was one of the greatest blessings of my life. This inspiring experience teaches us that true happiness does not come from material wealth, but from inner peace, mindfulness, compassion, and detachment.
