After 20 years of living in major Asian cities, they decide to stay in the Bernese Oberland from now on. A spontaneous move with consequences. Mainly for the sake of the children, as hotel manager Rolf Knecht says. "We want to bring more peace and stability into our lives, and the children should also be able to experience nature." Something that isn't possible with their lifestyle in Asia. After several months of unsuccessfully searching for an apartment in Meiringen, the family received an offer to build a wooden house. Their temporary stay in Meiringen, Canton of Bern, became a lifelong project overnight. With financial help from their parents, Rolf and Erica Knecht took the plunge and built a house. What began quickly and easily was delayed by the war in Ukraine, rising mortgage rates, and health problems.
