Nolan Wells' Sheriff Said WHAT About Foul Play?!

Nolan Wells' sheriff stood in front of cameras and said there was no foul play, before the autopsy was even finished. Nolan was eighteen, a wide receiver at Southwest Mississippi Community College from Ocean Springs, Mississippi. On the Fourth of July he went out to Horn Island, an uninhabited barrier island roughly ten miles off the Mississippi coast, with a group of friends. There's no buildings, no fresh water, no cell service out there, just boats and coolers until the sun goes down and everyone points home. His friends made it back. He didn't. A National Park Service ranger found his body in the water off the island's northwestern tip two mornings later. By then, roughly thirteen hours had already passed between the last time anyone saw him and the moment help was actually requested. Investigators say they believe Nolan drowned. They've also said they're still working to determine exactly what happened out there. That's a wider gap than most people realize, and the sheriff's early "no foul play" line closed a door that the case itself hasn't earned the right to close yet. His cause and manner of death still haven't been released. Some witnesses have reportedly been too frightened to talk about what they saw. Attorney Ben Crump is now running an independent investigation for the family, and the district attorney says this is heading to a grand jury. A friend reportedly called the Coast Guard that night, and Christine called the sheriff's office shortly after. None of that timeline has been fully explained to the public. Nolan's mother, Christine Wonsley, is still waiting for someone to tell her, officially, what happened to her son. Everyone online has already picked a side.
