ALGHERO ACCENDE L'ESTATE CON I FOCS DE SANT JOAN TRA TRADIZIONE E IDENTITÀ (24-06-2025)

Alghero lights up the summer with the Focs de Sant Joan, a festival steeped in ritual, tradition, and symbols of unity among the Catalan peoples. After more than 20 years, the Castells, the spectacular Catalan human towers, return, taking center stage in an event uniting Sardinia and Catalonia. A procession in white robes departs from the port and reaches the beach, passing by the small church of San Giovanni. The scent of aromatic herbs accompanies the ritual of the comparatico, a bond of friendship celebrated by jumping together over the fire lit with the Flama del Canigò, a symbol of brotherhood among the Catalan-speaking regions.
