This tiger reserve share its boundaries with the Chitwan National Park of Nepal . As it is located in himalyan and tarrain plains it has a rich ecosystem. This reserve act as a corridor between the two national parks. The valmiki tiger reserve is home to variety of mammals like tiger, Leopard, Sambar deer, dhole(jungle dogs), wild boar, Gaur (Indian Bison) , Cheetal (Spotted Deer), Hyena, Barking deer , Himalayan Serow,Sloth Bear, Nilgai and reptiles such as crocodile, indian rock python, king cobra , turtles, etc. This reserve is a paradise for bird lovers as more than 250 species of birds including migratory birds. This tiger reserve is spread over 900 square kilometres.
