Tractor Beach Campgrounds, Eyre Peninsula, Streaky Bay, Dolphin Pods, Caravanning Australia EP-198
#tractorbeachcampgrounds #eyrepeninsula #caravanaustralia #greynomadsaustralia This week we pulled into Tractor Beach Campgrounds—a laid-back coastal nook near Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula—where red cliffs meet a sheltered, shell-speckled shoreline and sunsets light up the ocean in gold and pink. Sites are simple and spacious with that off-grid vibe (think: long-drop loos, BYO water, rubbish bins onsite), and easy 2WD access via graded dirt makes it van-friendly. Mornings are for coffee on the dunes, beachcombing and rock-pooling; afternoons for fishing, there's a great dip spot just up the road, when the swell’s kind and you can tackle the steps, We spotted the most massive pod of dolphins, the campgrounds is short drive to Streaky Bay for supplies and a bakery treats. Yep we did, With starry skies, salty breezes, and the sound of waves as your soundtrack, Tractor Beach is one of those “one or two -night stopovers” that quickly turns into a slow, soul-soothing stay. We loved Tractor Beach. 0:00 Intro 0:17 Map 1:07 Tractor Beach Campgrounds 2:14 Tractor Beach 3:06 Streaky Bay Water Point and Dump Point 3:26 Giant Shark 3:55 Getting Oysters 4:36 Streaky Bay Jetty 5:07 Sunset Tractor Beach 5:26 Sunrise at the Campgrounds 5:50 Early Morning Beach Walks 7:02 Drone Footage of the Campgrounds 8:11 Gibson Peninsula 11:33 Whistling Rock and the Blowhole, 14:37 Wild Dolphins 18:22 Rock Pools 19:27 Sand Dunes 20:12 Moving Day 20:24 Photos We are Bec and Ed, from Aussie Nomad Destinations, we are traveling around Australia in our Jayco Silverline Outback Caravan and Next Gen Ford Ranger, and we have been travelling now for two years. Setting off in a trusty camper van or towing a caravan, grey nomads traverse rugged outback terrains, lush rainforests, and sun-kissed coastal stretches, each offering its own unique charm. The freedom of the open road beckons, with countless camping spots nestled along the way, from designated campgrounds with modern facilities to remote bush sites under a blanket of stars. As the sun dips below the horizon, gathering around a crackling campfire becomes a cherished ritual, sharing stories and laughter with fellow travellers or simply relishing the serenity of nature's embrace. With every dawn, there's a new adventure awaiting, whether it's exploring ancient Aboriginal rock art, spotting native wildlife in their natural habitats, or simply basking in the tranquillity of untouched landscapes. Camping as a grey nomad in Australia is not just a journey; it's a lifestyle of discovery, connection, and endless possibilities.
