Deep in the Florida Everglades of the United States, expert Shoichi Sengoku reports on the affectionate nature of the American alligator! When the distress calls of a baby alligator are recorded and played back via a speaker near adults, the adults gather to rescue the youngster in need. Experiments revealed that they would come to the rescue regardless of whether there was a blood relationship—or even if the cries belonged to a different species of alligator! Next, Sengoku tried another experiment: he placed a portable stereo playing the baby's cries continuously at the edge of the pond where the alligators lived. A group of alligators approached, and one of them actually clamped its jaws around the stereo and carried it into the water! For the final test, he set up a small tape recorder connected to a remote speaker, along with a model of a baby alligator, and played the cries. How would the adult alligators react!?
