A power indicates how many times a number should be multiplied by itself. The number 0 to any power is 0. The number 1 to any power is 1. The result of raising any positive number to any power is a positive number. When raising a negative number to a power, there are two possible outcomes: 1. If the power is even, the result is a positive number; 2. If the power is odd, the result is a negative number.
