Prairie Strips - Bringing Back the Edges
Small strips of prairie along the edges of row-crop fields can provide wildlife habitat, prevent erosion, improve water quality and add beauty to a farm. Farmer Dick Sloan and landowner Gary Guthrie tell the story of why they planted prairie strips on their land, how they manage the strips and the results they have seen from implementing this practice in this episode of Bringing Back the Edges: Creating Wildlife Habitat on Farms. Drone footage of prairie strips in bloom are courtesy of Iowa State University's STRIPs program. Learn more about their work at https://www.nrem.iastate.edu/research...
