The objective of this exercise is to: • Recognize the phenomenon of resonance and its characteristics. • Understand and use the expression for the impedance of an RLC circuit in forced operation. • Understand the expression for phase shift and graphically determine the period and time delay. • Determine the different expressions for the quality factor. This video is intended for second-year baccalaureate students. This circuit is powered by a generator that delivers a sinusoidal voltage of variable frequency N and constant effective value U = 4.5 V (Figure 1). The value of resistor R is adjusted so that it successively takes the values R_1 = 20 Ω and R_2 = 110 Ω. 1. Which resistance, R_1 or R_2, does curve 1 correspond to? Justify your answer. 2. Deduce the resonant frequency of the circuit from curve 1. 3. What can be said about the influence of the circuit's resistance value on the resonant frequency? 4. Determine the inductance L and resistance r of the coil. 5. Assume that Q=(L.ω_0)/R_T where ω_0 is the natural angular frequency and R_T is the resistance of the circuit. Deduce that ∶ Q=1/R_T √(L/C) 6. Calculate the value of Q We now turn to the current resonance phenomenon studied, the oscilloscope for an RLC circuit similar to that shown in Figure 1, such that ∶ C_1=10 μF, R_1 = 200 Ω, and L_1 and r_1 are unknown. 7. Modify the frequency N of the voltage delivered by the generator so as to search for current resonance. During this search, the curves shown opposite are observed for a generator frequency N1. Determine ∶ a. The numerical value of frequency N_1. b. The phase shift of u(t) with respect to u_(R_1 ) (t). c. The maximum values U_m of u(t) and U_Rm of u_(R_1 ) (t). d. Deduce the value of the circuit's impedance Z. 8. When resonance is reached, what characteristic do the two curves have? 9.
