Its main business is the operation of international passenger and cargo routes. At the beginning of its establishment, it also provided domestic route services, but after 1998, it was fully transferred to UNI Air, which is within the same group. In 1992, it began to provide premium economy class service, and it was the first airline in the world to set up this kind of passenger class. Joined Star Alliance on June 18, 2013, becoming the second airline in Taiwan to join the alliance. EVA Air has never had a fatal aviation accident since its inception and has an excellent flight safety record. From 2016 to 2019, it was awarded a five-star airline by Skytrax for four consecutive years, making it the eighth airline in the world to receive this honour.
