XS Scuba Skiff Review La Jolla

Andrew and Tom from XS Scuba tested the new Skiff Dive Computer during a dive at La Jolla Shores, taking it to depths of around 130 feet and intentionally putting both units into decompression mode to evaluate performance. The computers handled the dive well, with a bright red warning indicator appearing as deco time approached, making alerts easy to notice underwater. They also tested different conservatism settings and confirmed that the computer adjusted decompression times accordingly, allowing divers to customize safety levels to their preference. The Skiff console features a dual-scale QuikVu gauge displaying both metric and imperial pressure readings, making it useful for international diving and communicating with local guides. It also includes an integrated QuikVu compass and attachment points for clips or retractors to keep the console secure and accessible during dives. Visibility and readability were standout features during the test. Tom, was able to clearly read the large display numbers underwater even without prescription lenses. Both divers praised the intuitive two-button navigation system and overall ease of use. Another major highlight was the wireless integration with the Dive Sync app. The app instantly uploads dive data from the computer, displaying dive profiles, max depth, dive time, surface intervals, and other detailed information. Divers can also customize computer settings directly in the app and sync them to the device, simplifying setup and logging. Overall, both divers were highly impressed with the Skiff’s performance, readability, safety alerts, and app connectivity, calling it a reliable and user-friendly dive computer.
