Salient Surprise! | 1964 OTIS (mod. ThyssenKrupp/Salient) @ 98 Anzac Avenue, Auckland CBD
[ 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙢 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚: 23/1/2026 ] The rest of the lifts in this AKL26 batch are part of Day 5, my last day in Auckland — which means yes; exactly HALF of this batch's videos were filmed the same day I boarded my flight home! (This was a busy trip, whānau; didn't exactly have lots of time to go exploring on my own lol.) Well, what a way to start the day than with an elevator that not only has no one found & filmed yet (at least, to my knowledge)… but with fixtures I had never seen before! As it turns out, these are Salient fixtures, imported directly from Australia, and most commonly used from the late-90's right through the 2000's. The buttons remind me of the rare circular variant of Schindler M-Series buttons, and the indicator has some interesting logic where it actively stops the arrow from scrolling whenever the number changes. I'm told it was most commonly used by Schindler, but I've written ThyssenKrupp for now because of their name on the panel. Because yes — this actually modernised an old OTIS from 1964, and I knew it was old before looking it up because it has drop-key doors! All in all, I really like what they've done here, and the lift is decently fast for its rise too. Actually very good, and certainly an incentive for me to eventually visit Bluey's home country to see more lifts like it! AKL26 — Video 59/116 This video is © T3224 Elevators 2026.
