Dead or Alive is often dismissed as a flashy, casual fighting game but that reputation hides how mechanically deep and mentally demanding the series really is. This isn’t about calling DOA the best 3D fighter. It has flaws, and some are worth criticizing. It’s about looking past the surface and examining what Dead or Alive did differently: stage design, movement, the hold system, and the constant spatial awareness it demands. You don’t have to love Dead or Alive. You don’t even have to like it. I’m just asking for curiosity instead of dismissal.
