Only 5 Vowels in Singing? Why Only Singing the '5 Pure Italian Vowels' Is Too Limiting
Should we sing only the '5 pure Italian' vowels? (And yes, I know that there are 7 vowels in the Italian language. '5 pure Italian vowels' is more of a reflection of the number of vowels that we practice than of how many vowels there are in the Italian language.) Singers need to select the best vowel for the given pitch and dynamics and to ensure intelligible diction. NOTE: I have re-posted this video with an edit made to the original version because I had somehow neglected to include [æ] (as in 'cat') in my list of suggested vowels to include in our daily practice. / singwisevocals
