Baseball's Last 400 Strikeout Season
The 400 strikeout season. Even in Major League Baseball, where batters are seemingly striking out more than ever, the 400 strikeout season seems like nothing more than a pipe dream, an unattainable goal that even the best strikeout artists can’t hope to achieve. No one in the 20th century struck out 400 batters… in MLB, because there was one player, one who not only did it while facing some of the greatest hitters of all time, but pulled off the feat more efficiently than any of his predecessors. By a wide margin. He also did it while looking nothing like you’d expect a pitcher to look like. He wasn’t tall, he wasn’t slim, he wasn’t particularly muscular either, but he’d still stare you down and strike you out all the same. His name was Yutaka Enatsu, and he was baseball’s last 400 strikeout man. Twitter: https://x.com/GaijinBaseball Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/gaijinbaseba... Patreon: / gaijinbaseball
