The main challenge in recreating the recorded guitar parts on the original recording is the fact that we are not only dealing with a distorted electric guitar sound, but also a standard acoustic with another capoed acoustic layering it. In this Go Your Own Way guitar lesson I have tried to put all of those guitar parts into one easily playable version of the song. I made sure to keep the melodic figures that are constantly going on within the acoustic guitar parts during the intro and verse while still holding the main chords as well. This version I have done here is actually quite easy to play and sounds great! We only have two rhythm guitar parts total to worry about in this lesson so it shouldn't take very long to memorize all of the Go Your Own Way chords. I am teaching the song on an electric, but feel free to play it on an acoustic. It will actually sound great on an acoustic as long as you can play those barre chords well. Part of my arrangement requires you to use your thumb to finger a note on the 6th string at one point. I only do this because it really fills out the sound nicely, but it you are uncomfortable using your thumb there just do the condensed version of the Fmaj chord which I also teach in the video lesson. In the second video lesson I will teach you how to play Lindsey Buckingham's electric guitar solo that pretty much closes out the song. Lindsey Buckingham does have quite an unorthodox picking style and I try to emulate that in the lesson. However, don't throw the solo away if it isn't comfortable for you to use your fingers. Everything in the solo is easy to play with a pick as well. :) OK enough from me. Enjoy!! Carl...
