La Musique : Art ou Science ? | Pierre-Luc Larouche & Julianne Lewis | TEDxQuébec
Music and science might seem like two very different worlds. However, the fourth art form has evolved considerably thanks to various discoveries in the field of physics, and today, many of the scientific advancements in our daily lives rely on our musical knowledge. What if we looked at music from a scientific perspective for once? Nineteen-year-old Pierre-Luc has always been naturally curious. Born into a family of musicians, he quickly developed a passion for music, particularly classical guitar. During his studies, he discovered his second passion: physics, a field he would come to love so much that it became his future career. Currently enrolled in a double DEC program in Natural Sciences and Music, he fully embraces both passions, dividing his time between musical projects and scientific research. Nineteen-year-old Julianne, a native of Chibougamau, left her small region in Northern Quebec to pursue her studies at Collège d’Alma in a double DEC (Diploma of College Studies) in Science, Nature, and Music—a program that combines her love of music with her keen interest in science. After 14 years of playing the piano, as well as several other instruments such as the clarinet and classical singing, she hopes to keep music in her life while continuing her studies in medicine. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
