Reparations for Black Americans Becoming More Widespread
Reparations have continued to make headlines across the country. In Congress, House Bill H.R. 40 would create a commission to look at the impact of slavery from 1619 to today. The state of California has created a task force that would study reparations for its Black population. In Evanston, Illinois, lawmakers approved the “Restorative Housing Reparations Program,” as they offered qualified Black residents $25,000 for repairs or down payment on a house. Dr. William Darity Jr., co-author of the book “From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the Twenty-First Century,” joins Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to talk about the components surrounding reparations.
