The İYİ Party's Presidential Council, chaired by General Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu, held an extraordinary meeting at the Party Headquarters to evaluate the decision to cancel the CHP's congress. Following the meeting, Dervişoğlu made the following statement: My Dear Nation; We are at a turning point in our 150-year-old democratic tradition and 103-year-old history of the Republic. The decision regarding the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP), held on November 4-5, 2023, has been announced at the end of the legal process initiated two years after the congress. This decision targets not only a political party, but also Turkey's 75-year-old multi-party political system, the right to vote and be elected, our democracy, the rule of law, the present and future of the country. At the heart of democracy lies national sovereignty, equality, and justice. In full and complete democracies, political parties are established by the will of the nation and continue their path by the will of the nation. On this path, no one but our nation can give the reward or, if necessary, the punishment. Regardless of whether they are in power or in opposition, all political parties are parts of this country's common political heritage. However, in the one-man regime we have been dragged into with the Presidential Government System, the reason for the oppression, poverty, corruption, and lawlessness we face today is this system. The methods that the ruling coalition, which constantly speaks of the will of the nation, has resorted to in order to maintain its power, have created breaches in the ramparts of our legal system and the fortress of justice. This issue is more than just about a political party's congress; it is a matter that could have serious consequences for our electoral system and our Constitution. At this historic juncture, I, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, once again declare and announce before you that the İYİ Party is on the side of [the ruling party]. The İYİ Party is against this one-man regime; It is on the side of parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, a just state, a just judiciary, and a just administration. The IYI Party stands with the Republic founded by Atatürk against those who want to dismantle Turkey's unitary structure and drag it into an authoritarian regime. We see the decision of absolute nullity as a blow to multi-party Turkish democracy, an ambush against the present and future of the Turkish nation, and a wicked attack on the high legacy of the Republic. Let it not be forgotten that; This approach, which disregards the decision of the Supreme Election Board, the sole and final authority on these matters according to our Constitution, and which actually violates our Constitution, is a threat to all political parties, including the ruling party. Such a step, which could mean judicial tutelage, is an anti-democratic uprising against the will of the nation, disregarding our Constitution and relevant laws. The history of the Republic is full of examples of the fates of those who tried to put obstacles in the way of the will of the nation. The Turkish nation has always punished, at the ballot box, every attempt, whether by uniformed or civilian personnel, to mortgage its constitutional rights and unwavering will, thus preserving its sacred right. The government, which speaks of stability at every opportunity, cannot possibly be unaware that this lawlessness will lead to complete instability in our country. Stability means that citizens are confident about their future. It means that merchants are confident about the exchange rate, students about their future, women about their safety, civil servants about making ends meet, and farmers and pensioners about receiving their rightful dues. Stability means being able to pass on to our grandchildren what we received from our ancestors. Now I ask: What kind of stability can this government promise, a government that makes us forget our history, creates partners in our future, turns terrorists into politicians and politicians into terrorists, imprisons young children, and unleashes criminals who have become crime machines among us? Can there be stability in a country where the judiciary is politicized, where the country wakes up to operations every morning, and where the economic program is forced to take shape according to the government's political agenda? Based on these facts, I hereby declare and remind you that: Our nation should rest assured. Our 150-year-old democratic tradition will overcome this crisis. The IYI Party stands with our nation and with the sovereignty of the people, which will never be compromised. We have the determination and strength to prevent these and similar attempts.
